Two Tyrone Guthrie bursaries from Mayo County Council have been awarded to visual artists Mary Noonan and Will O’Kane. Every year Mayo County Council offers two bursary awards to artists born or living in Mayo, to enable them to spend two weeks at the Tyrone Guthrie Centre at Annaghmakerrig, County Monaghan. Each bursary covers all board and lodging expenses for a two-week period, plus the use of a studio if relevant.

There are a variety of work spaces including studios, a music room for composers and musicians, a multi-media room and a large rehearsal and performance space.

Custom House Studios at Westport Quay will continue to host a group exhibition of art works by those artists who worked at Custom House Studios during 2011, until January 15.

A group exhibition by artists Peter Burns, Anne Hendrick, and Mary Noonan opens next Thursday November 10 at The Gallery, Roscommon Arts Centre. The opening reception is from 5.30-7pm and all are welcome. The exhibition continues until December 15 and access is during centre opening hours. As always, access to the gallery is completely free of charge.

Custom House Studios Westport presents an exhibition of paintings by David Gearty at the Custom House Studios Gallery, The Quay, Westport.

The Custom House Studios are now inviting submissions for exhibitions and use of studio space for 2009 and 2010. Custom House Studios are currently constructing an extension and carrying out renovations – set to reopen March 2009. The studios complex houses seven artists’ studios, a gallery and a print studio. These facilities are housed in a historic restored Customs House building on the Quay in Westport, on a prominent redeveloped waterfront street.
